Installing a fuel tank on our Off Grid Rig
Просмотров 12 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Tylynn and Haylee help me get the fuel tank installed on our 1968 Plymouth Fury. We installed a 12 valve Cummins with a 4x4 NV4500 5 Speed transmission. After living off grid for a couple years we found that having a good reliable vehicle that can go almost anywhere is a major necessity! So we decided to build just that! Most of this build will be on our other channel Great American Northern Ga...

NICE TRUCK ! WILL LIKE TO SEE IT IN REAL MUD TEST......👍👍
95 bucks a sheet is a no go for me.
proper wall/roof structure will prevent all sorts of damage. Water *will* penetrate your shingles and siding. Give it somewhere to go !! outside to inside:: shingles/siding; vertical sleepers to create air-space; waterproof membrane; insulation; vapor barrier; interior sheathing. When water penetrates the siding/shingles; it will drip down the waterproof membrane (and out); the insulation will stay dry and thus effective. 2" closed cell spray foam toward the exterior plus whatever bulk insulation you fancy; will keep your building warm, dry and rot/rust free.
Glad to see a video from ya. That's a great looking van!! I love it!! Take care and God Bless y'all always
Awesome that you found a 4x4!!! 🐾🙏🏻✌🏻
Wish my daughter actually did something like that for me. !!
A hot knife works wonders on that stuff....
Hello Sir, Where can i buy that screen frame kit?
Great Stuff is the stickiest, nastiest stuff I have ever worked with. BUT, it will hold those foam sheets until the cows come home. My entire geodesic dome was made from 7" polystyrene foam sheets cut into triangles. The foam sheets would break before the great stuff joints. My gluing technique was to glue every foot or so, then some back after the spreading and expansion (cure) to get any more gaps. Just a little is all you need. It carves easily with a long sharp kitchen knife. It will also sand after cure. I also had to embed wood into the foam so I could screw stuff in. You would have thought I put the wood into concrete it held so well.
One more thing...use a hot knife type device to cut outlet boxes or channels for wire. I use a soldering gun with a #10 copper wire loop fashioned to the proper dimensions.
Did he ever find the money?
Yes he did after watching this video
This is amonst the most advanced van life footage I've ever seen!

Cool project, Chad. My best to you and the rest of your beautiful family...

Very cool 😎
We do not get many vids from you anymore, gone all quiet on us. We miss you and the girls
I’ve been on a different path for a bit but will continue with some adventure videos soon

You’re welcome
They dropped 6 snakes off in my yard and killed my dog . No more traveling with my boy Thor 😢.
Oh wow! That’s crazy!
nice to see you hugssss
Great it should be fun getting in where you can use it the way you want. 😀💕🙏
That’s gonna be a really cool camper? That’s what I would love
Chad, I know a good body worker, could whip that ole thing in shape!! Could prolly do somethin fer the van as well!!!!🤣😂
😂
lmfao
😆
Raise the roof❤❤❤❤
Nahh
Nice short!
I used to sleep in a van in a hammock for a while, not great on your back long term
I’m looking to purchase a flat bottom hammock
If that van spent most of its life in MI, you ABSOLUTELY MUST replace all of the hard brake lines, front to back ! While you are at it, you might as well replace all of the rubber hoses. You might be able to buy a pre-formed kit. If not use NiCopp brake lines. Easier to bend, easier to flare. Plan on replacing all of the fuel lines from the tank all the way to the front.
It just came down from Alaska. The underbody is immaculate!
Baaahahaa. I don’t think that’s Hank approved
😂
You have your man cave

Awesome dad!
Great information tutorial! YT's placement of the destructive, deceptive and despicable Biden administration campaign advertisement is audacious on behalf of YT and the dems. You still provided a fantastic tutorial. God you and the U.S.A.🙏

Hi Chad, I have a question. We are in Murphy Nc with a 25’x 46 ‘ metal building that needs insulating. My problem is with the 3” foam board that you suggested . Our metal tubing on the inside is 2 1/2” wide. So apparently your tubing is wider. What suggestion do you have for me , thank you Janet. All constructive comments are welcome
Hi Janet. I would then use 2” first and then use 1/2” overlapping the seams. Tape all seams first after installing the 2”. Then stagger the 1/2” overlapping the seems on the 2”. Then tape the seams on the 1/2” and you’re done. But I’d recommend you use a bubble foil first seems you’re in much hotter weather.
Thank you Chad, ok so let me understand. I place 2x4 purlins up first, then bubble foil, then 2” foam board and stagger the 1/2”? I think my problem of understanding is I am thinking I have to stay flush with the tubing….. but since I only have 2 1/2 inches from the wall to the edge of tubing I then would not be flush. Appears in your video you have wood on the outside of the tubes. Is this where I am not understanding? I re watched!! Your building is made with wood structure mine isn’t. Mine is solid metal. So now what😎🤷♀️
Agree. As long as you are not getting air inflow from the gaps the effect is relatively negligible with that low insulation value foam.
